The Beauty is in the Details

Like a rambling coastal estate basking in the romance
of yesteryear, this alluring shingle-style retreat entices
you with comfortable, free-flowing rooms and plenty of
architectural appeal.

Deliberately rustic, decidedly free from lavish Victorian
frills, and excitedly chic are just a few of the
inspirations for this year's design.

Take a look at the floor plans and we'll walk you through spaces as pretty as they are practical.

Eyebrow and Venetian Window
Pay close attention to the eyebrow of Design Home 2004, the uncommonly elegant area where the roof bends its shape ever so carefully around the trio of Venetian-inspired arched windows provided by Pella.

Rubblework Chimney
Imagine the natural beauty of the stone chimney and the weathered texture of the rubblework foundation.

You can almost feel its strength and warmth.

Random Hardiplank panels in rich VanDeusen Blue add the appearance of coastal living. Not the high-maintenance cedar siding you might expect, but rather a tough weather-resistant urethane, furnished by Rivershores Building Materials, for years of natural-looking beauty without painstaking up-keep.

Multilevel eaves lend a generous appearance from the curb, while the detail work in the brackets, vintage porch, and board and batten shutters soften the home with an old-world glow.

Playing up the old-world interest are the carriage-house garage doors from Zylstra Door,
made modern with the addition of LiftMaster garage door openers (also from Zylstra).

T.K. Pavers gets in on the mix with their stamped concrete...so beautiful, you'll mistake it for wood.

Furnishing quality building materials for Design Home 2004 is Kenowa Lumber, a full-service lumber and drywall facility with 75 years of experience in the lumber business.

Unusual Moire Black roofing is Certainteed Landmark Shingle provided by Eikenhout.

Follow along, next month, as we sneak a peek inside the front door to reveal the inspiration for the interior design and décor.
