Color has a way of attaching emotion to a home. Yellows denote a happy and energized feel, while blues lend tranquility and peace. Choosing just the right shades for each room of your home, and then making sure that they all coordinate nicely is often too daunting a task for most homeowners.

This is where experts like Polly Timmer, Design Coordinator from Carpet One by Johnson and Anna Donahue of A.K. Donahue Design come in.

An array of rich, warm woods and a neutral canvas paint Design Home 2004, keeping it in harmony with nature so as to blend well with the wooded backdrop of
its surroundings.

“You need to understand and be comfortable with color.” — Anna Donahue

“My approach for Design Home 2004 is to create the kind of home memories are
made in.” — Polly Timmer

Earth, Sky, Sand, Water And Rock

Keeping the interior color scheme neutral will “allow the drama of the whole house to unfold,” says Polly, “natural tones such as earth, sky, sand, water, and rock will be the primary palette.”

Inglenook

In front of the fireplace, an earthy slate floor mingles with shimmery sandstone accents for a focal point that's destined to impress.

Kitchen
Harmonious sky-colored walls keep with the natural scheme, while fabulous black granite counters help ground the often busiest room in the home.

Dining Room

Exquisite Brazilian Tiger Wood flooring from Carpet One by Johnson
features stunning streaks of tan and black to add character while
coordinating with the black kitchen cabinetry.

Study
Lots of warm woods with leathery faux-finished walls add a distinctly masculine flair that's loaded with texture.

Foyer and Stair Tower

Floors of natural slate intermingled with coppery tiles rest underfoot, while eyes soar to the impressive
stair tower that rises above.

Throughout

Neutral berber carpeting from Carpet One by Johnson warms the home without overwhelming it,
so attentions will focus on the architectural aspects within.
